The Astrakhan Region Strengthens Cooperation with Kazakhstan

The Astrakhan delegation visited the Atyrau Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was headed by Kazbek Khadikov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Astrakhan Region. The representatives of the commercial, industrial, agricultural, medical, educational and youth policy sectors were among the participants. Deputy Director General of SEZ Lotus JSC Andrey Nalimov represented the management company of the Caspian Cluster.

The Astrakhan delegation arrived in Kazakhstan to work out the details of previously reached agreements and to discuss the plans for further cooperation. The prospective areas comprise strengthening the trade contacts, expanding relations between the healthcare institutions, educational and youth organizations, etc.

The representatives of the Astrakhan Region visited Kazakhstan Petrochemical Inc., a SEZ National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark tenant, operating the integrated gas chemical complex construction project within the Atyrau Region. They also visited the Amangeldy fish breeding and processing plant, the oil and gas equipment producer Atyrauneftemash and other companies.

The Astrakhan Region and Kazakhstan are longtime partners in trade, shipbuilding, education, culture and healthcare. SEZ Lotus JSC also has a successful experience in cooperating with the Kazakhstan partners. This year, the managing company of the Caspian Cluster and the management company of the Special Economic Zone "National Industrial Petrochemical Park" agreed to develop their cooperation as the tenants of these two SEZs are interested in establishing direct commodity exchange.

 – We are moving further in working out cooperations options with our Caspian neighbors, including the Kazakhstan partners. The Astrakhan ports provide the shortest route to India and the Kazakhstan ports provide the shortest way to China. There are cooperation prospects for enhancing logistics projects related to the Port SEZ as well as prospects for industrial interaction between the economic zones and our tenants, – comments Andrey Nalimov.
