SEZ Lotus Tenant Floated Out a Chemical Tanker

A ceremony of putting afloat a chemical tanker of the project RST 25/7 was held at the Lotos Shipyard (a shipyard of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center incorporated in the United Shipbuilding Corporation). This is a new class of river-sea tankers, with increased environmental safety and automation class.

The tanker VOLGOTRANS-2502 fully complies with the international requirements for transportation of oil products, including the two-compartment subdivision, and fits the Volga-Don Shipping Canal and the Volga-Baltic Waterway.

The vessel has 6 cargo tanks and is designed for transportation of crude oil and petrochemicals, including gasoline without flash point limitations, as well as vegetable oils and chemicals. It is possible to carry two different types of cargo simultaneously.

Following the launch of the vessel, the shipyard staff will carry out outfitting works, mooring and performance tests, after which the vessel will be ready for commissioning.

The vessel is being built by order of MASHPROMLEASING JSC for VOLGOTRANS shipping company.

Astrakhan shipbuilders have successful experience in constructing vessels of a similar class. In 2023, they commissioned the chemical tanker Volgotrans-2501 of the project RST-25/7. In 2016, two oil tankers Yakov Gunin and Sergey Terskov left the shipyard’s slipway.

 The main characteristics of the chemical tanker are as follows: 139.99 m length, 16.60 m width, 4.175 / 3.60 m draft in sea/river, 6613 t deadweight in sea (T=4.175) /5132 t deadweight in river (T=3.60), 2 x 1200 kWt power and type of the main engine, 10.5 ± 0.3 knots speed.
