Dubna Hosted the 2nd International Forum of Special Economic Zones

The 2nd International Forum of Special Economic Zones was held in Dubna, a science city near Moscow, on the territory of the Special Economic Zone of the same name. It gathered more than 500 participants from 15 countries, including Iran, Nigeria, Cuba, Ethiopia, UAE, Cambodia, Belarus. Representatives of SEZ Lotus JSC took part in the event.

 During two days the participants of the forum discussed the development of territories with preferential regulatory regime, opportunities for interaction between economic zones of Russia and BRICS countries, as well as Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries. The plenary session of the forum was opened by Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

 ‘SEZs are not just territories with preferential treatment, but platforms for innovation, creating new industries and attracting investment. They play a key role in building a supply-side economy and achieving national development goals,’ Alexander Novak commented.

The event also included an international congress of free and special economic zones, where representatives from Turkey, Cuba, China, UAE, Kazakhstan spoke about their experience in the development of free economic zones and industrial parks, and presented promising projects for the development of cooperation.

 The participants discussed the SEZs development at panel discussions dedicated to optimizing the regulatory and legal framework of SEZs, application of new financial instruments, and infrastructure development. There were also round tables on the development of cooperation between SEZs ‘Russia-Belarus’ and ‘Russia-Iran’.

 The delegation of SEZ Lotus JSC took part in all the main events and held meetings with representatives of Russian and foreign economic zones and companies.

 ’We managed to communicate with the general manager of the Turkish industrial zone Adana, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cambodia, as well as participants from Africa, UAE, Belarus. We talked to colleagues from Russian SEZs (the experience of the Dubna SEZ was especially interesting), and representatives of banks that develop financial products for SEZ tenants. Participation in such events helps to keep abreast of the world's best practices in SEZ development and expand the geography of cooperation’, - comments Irina Bocharnikova, Head of the Investor Relations Department of SEZ Lotus JSC.

 It should be reminded that SEZ Lotus JSC is constantly developing international cooperation. The management company has signed more than 20 agreements with partners from 10 countries. There is a unique experience of cooperation with Iran constructing the first in Russia detergent plant of Iranian holding Golrang, which is planned to be commissioned in 2025.
