A New Tenant May Appear in the Astrakhan Port SEZ

Alexander Kim, Director General of SEZ Lotus JSC, introduced a company interested in implementing a project on the territory of the Port Special Economic Zone to Mehdi Akouchekian, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Astrakhan. The prospective tenant plans to build a refrigerated terminal in the Port SEZ of Astrakhan to develop the transportation of fruits and vegetables, including from Iran.

 As it was pointed out at the meeting, the lack of necessary cold storage facilities is a significant obstacle to the start of active transshipment of Iranian fruits and vegetables through the Astrakhan Region. The implementation of the investment project on the territory of the Astrakhan Port Special Economic Zone will help to solve this problem. The potential tenant is considering the construction of a refrigerated terminal with a capacity of 100 thousand tons per year.

 – This is a Russian company that plans to submit all the necessary documents to obtain the status of a tenant of the Port SEZ in the near future. The project is promising and will contribute to the creation of cold storage capacity, which does not yet exist in the region, and, as we know, the need is great, – comments Alexander Kim, Director General of SEZ Lotus JSC.

 Two tenants are currently registered in the Port SEZ. The projects of the first phase of the construction of a container, oil and grain terminals are being implemented. The projects are aimed at creating modern capacities for the development of cargo transportation along the International North-South Transport Corridor.
