A Modern Refrigerated Terminal Will Appear in the Port SEZ

A meeting of the expert commission of the Caspian SEZ cluster was held today at the Residence of the Astrakhan Region Governor. It was held by Ilya Volynsky, Deputy Chairman of the Astrakhan Region Government. The application for obtaining the status of a tenant of the Port SEZ was approved and granted to the Astra company with an investment project for the construction of a logistics refrigerated terminal.
Dmitry Orlov, General Director of Astra LLC, presented the project. As he told, the company planned to build a modern production and warehouse complex that meets high international standards.
The complex will be equipped with refrigeration units, loading and unloading areas, packing and re-packing lines. All this will ensure
receiving, temporary storage of wholesale batches of vegetables, fruits and other agricultural products, as well as their processing, packing, freezing and transportation. The warehouse zone will include 22 cooling chambers with a total area of more than 6 thousand square meters to accommodate 5,500 tons of products in floor storage. If equipped with racks, the storage area can be increased by 50%, - comments Dmitry Orlov.
The project investments will exceed 1 billion rubles. The planned implementation period is 2 years.
Today we see that the volume of freight traffic along the International North-South Transport Corridor is growing. And this project is extremely relevant in terms of creating such infrastructure, which will help the Astrakhan Region to become a hub for the transportation of perishable goods, - Ilya Volynsky said during the meeting.
Alexander Kim, Director General of SEZ Lotus JSC, confirmed the readiness of the Caspian Cluster management company to provide the necessary infrastructure by the end of 2026 to implement the project in accordance with the company's requirements. A plot of 8.8 ha in the port SEZ has been allocated for the project implementation.
Today, two tenants are already implementing projects in the port SEZ, planning to build container, grain and oil terminals. Launching of a modern refrigerating complex here will allow to expand the list of products transported through the Astrakhan Region and create prerequisites for the development of a large logistics complex for the transport of various types of cargo, - Alexander Kim added.
