Production of geosynthetic fabric was launched in SEZ “Lotus”

Today JSC “Gexa-Lotos”, the tenant of the Astrakhan Special Economic Zone with the participation of the acting Governor of the Astrakhan Region Sergey Morozov launched the production line of unique geosynthetic fabric for roads in the framework of commissioning works. Thus, the first company built on the territory of the SEZ “Lotus” from scratch begins its work.

The line includes an extruder for production of flat polypropylene yarn, equipment for preparing of yarn for weaving and weaving machines. At the stage of technology fine-tuning, the total capacity of the line will be more than 3 million square meters per year. The width of produced fabric will be 5.4 meters. Geosynthetic fabrics of this format have not been produced in Russia yet.

“This is the first of six workshops which we are going to build here. We will work out the technology and continue developing. We plan to increase production volumes thrice for several years. We intend to supply our products not only to the Russian market, but also to the Caspian-bordering countries,” said the Director General of JSC “Gexa-Lotos” Alexander Kochetkov.

“The tenant was given all necessary technical conditions for the use of the infrastructure built in SEZ “Lotus”. It allowed to provide the tenant with necessary facilities for operation,” said the Director General of SEZ “Lotus” Sergey Milushkin.

JSC “Gexa-Lotos” is a subsidiary of one of the largest Russian manufacturers of woven and non-woven polymeric materials for various purposes - JSC “Gexa-Netkaniye Materialy”.

Geosynthetic materials are used in road construction, oil and gas industry, bank protection.
